Canterbury English and all their staff recognize that moving to and settling in to a new country can be as overwhelming as it is exciting. To help all new Canterbury English TESOL participants become acclimated to the city, Canterbury created The Canterbury Club. Over the past twelve years The Canterbury Club has evolved into a social club that resembles a family.
Every month, students, teachers, alumni and friends gather for one or two organized events to talk, catch up and simply enjoy Spain and each other. All the events are intended to show members of the Canterbury family part of Spanish culture, whether that is learning how to Salsa or engaging in La Tomatina, which involves throwing tomatoes at one another as an act of celebration.
The Canterbury Club also hosts traditional anniversary and holiday parties that draw people back to Madrid from all over the world. The Canterbury Club helps to separate Canterbury English from all other TESOL programs, ensuring that participants will have both an academically successful and socially engaging experience in Spain
